All-on-4

All-on-4 dental implants offer an advanced method to secure dentures for a full restoration. This procedure works by implanting the screws into four areas on each arch. In comparison to other implant dentures, All-on-4 uses fewer implants to get a secure fit.

Our experienced dentists recommend All-on-4 implants for patients who are looking for a fully restored smile without the hassle and dietary restrictions that come with removable denture. Come to Costa Rica and get you dental implants.

What is all on 4?

This method uses highly angled implants in only the anterior part of the jaw. The rationale is that in most people who have lost all their teeth, they usually first lose teeth in the back of their mouth, so that is where there is more bone resorption. Implants are thus placed in the denser bone of the anterior portion of the jaw.

With the implants placed at varying angles, there is more resistance to dislodging the implants, making the result more stable and allowing for the use of shorter implants.

Implants by All-on-4 can be used to replace the upper and/or lower arches with implants attached to custom-made dentures. You might be an ideal candidate for All-on-4 if you prefer the benefits of implanted dentures over removable dentures, which include few or no dietary restrictions, no messy adhesives, and no special cleaning.

You will need to have good bone and gum density to be a candidate, as the screws rely on your bone and gums to maintain them in place. If needed, bone and/or gum grafts may be needed until implant surgery.

You may experience some discomfort and pain in your gums after implant surgery. During the time you are using temporary dentures, there will be some dietary restrictions and cleaning instructions to follow.

You will also need to visit The Dental Cusp follow-ups during the healing period so we can monitor your progress and make sure the implants are integrating into your jawbone and gums as they should be. Once your custom dentures are placed, you can clean them like natural teeth with daily brushing and flossing.

One of the advantages to this technique is that you can have what is called immediate loading of the implant. Usually, no stress can be placed on the implant for several months while it integrates with the jawbone.

However, with the All-on-4 technique, you can leave the procedure that day with a provisional denture attached to the implants. This is why “Teeth in a Day” is often used to describe this technique.
